Please give feedback and discuss information posts in this thread, so the "info threads" can be kept clear and tidy.

I think it all looks pretty dandy!
After reading all the Scrolls I think it sounds even more awesome!
And I will make a post about Sal once I have revamped him, so.. Be patient!

I've made some changes to the faith and history sections, mainly to make some stuff clearer. I still want to add "how to join" and some more information on beliefs and practices.
I'm not finished messing about with the religious concept yet; Celegil's getting the undeveloped version in RP at the moment. I might yet make some significant changes. Any suggestions?

Hmm. I think I already told you in-game but its best to make a response about it here for future reference. The fact that Kailahan's face had to be smeared over with blood was fine. I totally got that and Celegil understood what point he was trying to make. The hornbeam tree was also a very good idea. The thing that I got a little bit of a problem with was the fact that Celegil had to leave Kailahan in the middle of a cave with a few ferocious bears that would eat him. Now..not ANY mother would do that. I'm not a mum (and not a dad at that xD), but I know a little about feelings and not any good mother would bring her son into such amount of jeopardy. I decided that Celegil would do it, but she didn't know he would be eaten, only when she was standing outside the cave with Aldrannath. Of course as you noticed, as soon as they started licking his neck, she rushed in there and got him out. Now I did a little research into what you said after that event, that it came from the Bible. So I read that over on Wikipedia. Now..not to disrespect your faith (I'm non-religious, sorry ) but I think the Bible is well-written BUT it shouldn't be taken completely serious. Its obviously written down in such a way that IF it ever happened, it was probably a lot less juicy and over the top than how its written in there. It was mainly meant to shock people in such a way, that they would never forget that lesson. Now, I don't say stuff like this never happend in our world. Take the Maya's and Inca's for example. If you saw the movie Apocalypto (which is fairly historically accurate) and read about them in the history books, you see that the sacrifice of infants was a normal thing. BUT it was only a normal thing in the final years of their civilization because they were heading downhill fast. Night Elves aren't in a terrible good position either, but to openly sacrifice their children, meh. Also, it would have made a big difference if we did the actualy sacrificing later on when Celegil would have fully trusted Aldrannath. If he would have said he would be okay, and if Celegil did indeed have faith in Aldrannath's judgement, she would have probably let things happen. Finally, the RP we had last night was very good. She's starting to trust Aldrannath as a religious figure.

The fact that Kailahan's face had to be smeared over with blood was fine. I totally got that and Celegil understood what point he was trying to make. The hornbeam tree was also a very good idea. Glad you liked that. Yeah, actually with hindsight I felt that was a poor judgement call on my part. It was very spur-of-the-moment, I hadn't planned anything at all, and this idea kind of just came to me; as you indicate, it would have made more sense at a much later stage. As Celegil later realised, the point was not to actually sacrifice Kailahan, but to show that she had the strength of will and trust in the Balance to be capable of it. But anyway, it would quickly become very silly if we did it often, so I intend to keep that in reserve as an idea for once in a blue moon when it seems appropriate - and then only with characters who know Aldrannath and The Way well enough to be willing to go along with it. I actually pretty much agree with you here. Abraham is a more or less mythical figure, and whatever the historical veracity of the story, it's much more interesting as a legend/allegory/prophecy than it would be as plain fact. Taking context into account I'd say the similarity between that story and what we did with Celegil was pretty superficial - I only mentioned it as an answer to "holy cow, that was f***ed up, where did you get that idea?" As for connections between the Way of Malorne and real world religions, I don't want to get into those beyond, at most, a peripheral "I got this idea from X." Obviously the connections are there, because it's the most useful source of ideas - but equally obviously, the concepts and practices we RP with are different, and if we got into discussion of the real world we'd quickly go waaaay off topic. I do feel the Way of Malorne is taking shape, in my own mind at least, much more now than a few days ago when we did that stuff with Kailahan. I reckon next week, if Sal gets his new profile ready, we can see about organising our first proper RP activity.

I think (touch wood) the info section is finished. Still subject to feedback and revision of course, but at least everything's here that I feel needs to be, and for now I'm reasonably happy with where it's at.
Latest changes: How to join, guild ranks, a description of "the Rites of Malorne", and an expanded "faith" section with some more information on our beliefs. The rites, in particular, are a preliminary concept, for experimentation and improvement as necessary.
So, please take a look through what's already here and share your thoughts. I hope you like it!

Hehe, glad you like it Farel! Be warned that at this early stage, the stuff here is still very much subject to change - most especially the IC sections on faith, rites and history - so you may find yourself needing to unremember some details later. Incidentally, Barshe might be joining us on a (less squeamish) alt after all.

Well Barshe is joining on Bemelia if i am correct ^^ But, i actually thought of a few things, HOW do we get recruited persons? i mena do we wonder around and see them and then speaks to them or? because i got VERY unsure yesterday when Celegil asked Farel ICly ( why i where an time to answer ) that if there where any new initiates? i think i answered "not what i heard of, even i've met one there seems to have an interesting figu-.. interesting way of thoughts on things" ain't really sure if that was the answer but well you get my point, HOW do we recruit and such? WHEN do we know if they are an part of us? i think that where all from me this time *coughs*

I'm going to be doing a complete rewrite and restructuring of the "faith" section soon. A few changes are coming elsewhere, but they'll be more about style and presentation, the content will stay the same. For new characters joining, there are several "obvious" ways in: - they know a character who's involved already, or who in turn knows about tWoM - this would include Barshe and any of the Cenarion Guardians;
- they're followers from way way back - obviously this is only realistic for characters over 7000 years old (i.e. they remember the time before the Long Vigil, which was the last time tWoM was actively recruiting;
- they "heard about" Aldrannath and Salabadon reestablishing tWoM (the Cenarion Circle and the Sentinels in Auberdine know about us already) and wanted to check us out;
- they need our help, and were advised to seek us out by the Cenarion Guardians (but this should be roleplayed), the Auberdine Sentinels, or the Cenarion Circle;
- they happen to be in Auberdine when we're gathering there. This needn't be an improbable coincidence, as Auberdine is a travel hub IC as well as in-game.

I think that new members are officially a part of us when they have undergone the Rite of Initiation. What Cel askes was if Farel had heard if any others would be interested in joining their ways. ICly, Celegil doesn't know yet that others are going to join. OOCly, we know a few people who are probably going to join like Caliyen . Oh, as a note. I'd love to do another Rite of Initiation this weekend with Caliyen perhaps? If he and I are not too busy playing Dragon Age that is, but I'll keep time in the evening free

Because of getting signatures, we've got a few people in the guild as Seekers who haven't had any IC contact with us yet. But in future I want to have a system where people become a Seeker after the first IC meeting where they express an interest in joining, and then become a Novice/Ranger (i.e. a full member) when they've gone through the Rite of Tranquility.
If at some point we have Novices who complete their training and become Rangers, or (conceivably) Rangers who become Elders, of course we'd want to have a cool rite of passage for that.

I'll almost definitely be doing something on saturday night because my birthday is on the sunday of this weekend. I'm free this evening (friday) but that might be a bit soon. Could roleplay on sunday evening too, but I have a moon priestess to sacrifice first!
