Hurrah! I've been accepted into the closed Cataclysm Beta! My idea was for everyone here to ask questions about a specific thing that will happen to the world post-Cataclysm. So please ask them here. I shall also add videos to my You Tube account so watch this space.

Wooohooo! What a nice surprise! This is great news. Could I ask you to quest through Mount Hyjal, and take a look at which dungeons and raids might be interesting and relevant for our characters? Don't post any spoilers here though. I just want to make sure we're ready to tackle the Mount Hyjal quests IC, and know in advance which ones need to be adapted for RP purposes - obviously, rescuing Ancients and chumming around with a certain large white stag will need to be handled with care and discretion.

Quite a big question. Uhm, give me some time to run around. I'll probably make a quick fly-through video and some added text. Also note, not all dungeons are implemented yet.

What about the highborn? What is the excuse for letting them run around? Any mention of rune magic? Any mention of what happened around dire maul?
And if you get to an instance.. Do they require marks and CC or are they still an AoE dps competition?

Working on the above! Kicking off with Darkshore. A few notes: - Sorry Caliyen, Ellissa is dead! - Malfurion is here. - Many quests involving rescueing survivors of Auberdine. - Quest texts almost emphasizes on the death of many Night Elves. - Queen Aszhara plays a role in this zone within a quest. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsLWKdB6lGEI also filmed a bit of Mount Hyjal, expect that to be on later today. Also did a complete 30 minutes tour of Stormwind, coming tommorow. Also coming tomorrow, Fandral Staghelm captive in the Hyjal Barrow Den by a new Captain of the Watchers! Haven't seen any new models for clothes, but I did find this new weapon model.

Great fly through mh looks very interesting. The sanctuary of malorne will no doubt have great rp significance for us as well. Mapfurian being free from the emerald dream too is great. Does he have quests for us? If staghelm is captured in the burrow den as you say who else is our factions leader in Darnassus at the moment? Is Darnassus greatly different? On a more tech note I heard Randy on the instance podcast say the beta was 32 gig, is that true? I hope the game is much smaller as I only have 16 gig left on my harddrive. What in your opinion is the best bits of the new expansion?

If staghelm is captured in the burrow den as you say who else is our factions leader in Darnassus at the moment? Is Darnassus greatly different? This is explained towards the end of the recent Stormrage novel. I wouldn't recommend it as a great read, it's a bit like watching really bad RP! You can probably find a synopsis somewhere if you're interested or I can PM it to you, best not spoil it here for anyone who wants to read it.

Another thing I imagine is on your list of stuff to check, but: can you find out as much as possible about the Highbourn/Shen'dralar, how and why they've been allowed to rejoin Kaldorei society, and so on? It would be nice to have a revised and updated version of The Guide ready for the day Cataclysm hits.

Sure thing Ald, I shall have a look into that. The beta is 34.5 gigabytes. However, I think Blizzard has deliberately chosen for everyone to have both Cataclysm and the current Live files. I think the filesize will decrease eventually. Keep in mind there's loads of dummy files. Best bit of the expansion is from my point of view the fact that Night Elves aren't portrayed as silly folk. Their's a lot of emotion in the quest texts. The quests also are a lot of fun, even though I was hugely overpowered with my Level 80. Few pictures! Astranaar POST-questing. Seems this is still a good RP location because its relatively quiet once you did the quests. Celegil and her own Sentinel squad. There's a quest in Maestra's post where you commandeer a squad of Sentinels to kill some Horde. Maestra's Post POST-Questing. Seems there's no phasing here or it isn't done yet. *grumbles* Gnomes seem to be accepted by Night Elves now. Watch this quest text. More Gnomes..*spits* Stardust Spire, a new Night Elf questing hub where once the Talondeep Path was. Argh! Night Elves using cannons. *spits more* Trueshot Point in Stonetalon. Highbourne in Windshear Hold, there seems to be a lot of Gnomes around too. The new Shandris Feathermoon, including some smexy armour. Finally, three more videos where I explore Stormwind. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw88ovPzuc4www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwmRs8GTlb8www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fx267Jf93gAlso, Darkshore has a very interesting quest line. I HIGHLY suggest once Cataclysm comes out, we all do the quests together in a form of an RP event.

Wait, so... after all the Ashenvale quests, Astranaar ends up in the hands of the Kaldorei after all? *gasp of astonishment followed by sigh of relief*
I was definitely thinking we'd do a bunch of quests in-character. Especially where there's phasing, I think we should make a point of all getting to the post-questing phase so we can actually RP in these places together; it might end up becoming a requirement to join in with our RP, in practice.
I assumed the Mt. Hyjal campaign would be something we could do together IC. Are you suggesting we also do the Darkshore and Ashenvale quests together IC?
Contemplating the acceptance of gnomes, I think as a mainstream Kaldorei view this is okay. The general Kaldorei impression of Gnomes would have been of flighty foolishness, and for the technology perhaps dangerous unpredictability. But there's no obvious lore reason why Kaldorei should loathe or despise Gnomes, especially after they've had years to demonstrate their usefulness in war. Needless to say, ultra-traditionalists like most of our characters will still dislike them, and look askance at Night Elves using a cannon where a bolt-thrower would do the job.
Incidentally, I'm developing the idea of Thelnaya as a sort of neutral-traditionalist, who understands and can use Dwarfish and Gnomish technology, and sees its situational usefulness, while at the same time firmly believing that the traditional Kaldorei methods are generally superior, and greatly to be preferred as tools for Sentinels. I reckon this would make her socially acceptable to our characters and capable of interacting meaningfully with other races at the same time. Speaking of which, any sign of a usable Moonglaive?
The acceptance of the Shen'dralar is a much more difficult point, but depending on how well their story is told (or how well we invent their story in the form of supplementary flavour) I think it might just about be non-absurd. That's why I'm particularly curious to hear whatever new lore has been introduced for them.
Currently chewing on ideas about how to work the advent of the Shen'dralar into our ongoing RP story. But I don't think WoM should start accepting Kaldorei mages.

Moonglaives are used in one of the quests defending Astranaar. You control them to shoot Horde Windriders out of the sky. However, you can't use them after that quest.

Just checked out Teldrassil, unfortunately, its heavily unfinished so we have to wait till the Beta progresses to get a glimpse of the Highborne's acceptance. Did manage to capture this though. I do however, have a MAJOR questline in Feralas coming up, with an epic encounter with Shandris Feathermoon at the end.

More great info I would love to do a questline or two ic, it would be good to know what zones we shouldn't tackle without permission. Don't think I will tackle that book after that refferal , lol. Personally I prefer Knacks to Goldens or others novels. Seen any nice long bows from questrewards as my rp bow isn't the greatest looking:( thanks again for doing all this ground work , it is appreciated.
