Its the day after the low numbers for Naxx and as i am new i am just wondering does the guild actively recruit or advertise or have all the members joined through interaction with current guildys or word of mouth. Personally i got the guilds details of the swc forum but i dont know how many people actually use these due to the trolling. Just wondering tbh, i personally think if there were say 3 or 4 more lvl 80s we could do alot more content such as random heroics in rp, would be good to get badges and rp at the same time, thoughts?

We are recruiting, but due to stringent rules in choosing who makes the cut there are not many who will take the time to do what we ask before they join. We are a niche guild, Night Elf only. We expect people to have a good grasp of lore and to have thought about their own character and his/her place in WoW as it stands now, and in the past. We insist they reach a certain standard of RP and that they work to improve or maintain it. Couple this with plenty of people not bothering to level alts for RP guilds, and it makes for few potential recruits that can accompany the higher levels on these raid RP events. That being said, it does make for a higher standard of RPers, and also RPers that are serious about what they want to bring to their chars and the guild, and want to do something awesome rather than just put a well-known and respected guild name below their alt's name tag. So yes. There is not going to be a huge influx of newbs to the guild no matter how many rec posts we put out there. But we are fine with it

I basically agree with everything Vaelitha said, but I'd prefer to express it in a less daunting way. Basically, we ask prospective recruits to do lots of stuff before they can join, and reserve the right to say "thanks but no thanks" if they aren't willing to adapt how they do it so as to fit in with our characters and our stories. That fact alone already puts off practically all of the people we wouldn't have accepted, so talk of "stringent rules" or "standards" is actually pretty much moot. So far, everyone who's actually done what we ask in the application process has joined the guild. I've only seen one serious application fall by the wayside, because the player wasn't willing to make the character changes I asked for; I afterwards made the "How to RP - our way" thread a bit more specific. But I have no idea how many people look at us and think "nah, too much like hard work" - probably quite a lot. That's fine with me. I think the PvE lesson learned from Naxx is that we need to have more than ten people signed up to be sure of getting a successful raid together. I basically launched the Naxx story as soon as I felt there were enough level 80 characters in the community to scrape a raid together; what we found is that we need to allow for at least 25% no-shows, as lots of us have all kinds of unpredictable RL obligations. It's frustrating to be scuppered in that way of course, but I refuse to yell at people for being unreliable; RL always takes priority over WoW. The flip side of that, of course, is that people should be prepared to find themselves on the bench if and when we have more than ten. As we've discovered, even when the PvE is a non-starter (whether because we don't have the numbers, or because you've been left on the bench), RP can still make for a wonderful evening. I am totally happy with how last night turned out - mind you, I'd be a bit disappointed if we never got through our Ulduar run, as I've been planning that story for months. We are recruiting, and we are growing as a community; we now have something like 15 players more or less actively participating in our RP, and that's a number that has been growing pretty steadily since we started with 4 last November. In another six months I hope it might be more like 25 - but I don't want to grow much beyond that. We have more than enough 80s for heroics, as we discovered in Ahn'Kahet the other week. Random heroics wouldn't make any sense in RP, but there are a few more dungeons we might get round to visiting before Cataclysm comes out. I like using PvE for RP, but it really only works in story terms if we spend a lot more time on context than on the actual fighting. As such, those of us who want to do progression raids or daily heroics will need to do them OOC - but of course, better with guildies than with pugs.

I mostly agree with Aldrannath here. The philosophy when we started the Way of Malorne is to create a small Night Elf niche guild that would uphold the real lore of Night Elves rather then the pop culture references (cheerleaders). I'm quite shocked and pleasantly surprised we even got 7 people together last night. If you have said that to me when we started out with the guild, I would have said you were crazy. . Sidetracking a little, in the 'good RP' circles, we are definitely well known. That may sound like I'm an elitist prick but I rather mingle with RP that makes sense rather than Goldshire. For one, I'm connected to several RP channels in-game and our guild almost immediately gets called as one of the 'best bets' for good Night Elf RP next to the Cenarion Guardians and the Moonguard. Which means, we may be small, but people definitely know about us.

Great response;) as I am new I just didn't know the policy and long term plan of the guild. I personally am very happy with the responses and like the sounds of the 25 people in the distant future . I hope I never upset anyone with the question , I just wanted to hear some others ideas.

I have been around wowing for a while.. Iv been in and out of guilds really all the time. WoM is by far the best RP guild I have encounted. Even when I was playing Delenthia and frowning at Ald and Cele. But that was all taken in the guilds stride and it was made entertaining.
As for Naxx... Hopefully I didn't let the side down last night.

We've never been strict about attendance, punctuality or sticking around; come when you can and stay as long as you like. Missing people can mean that certain plot events have to be changed or postponed, but it never prevents us from having a good evening's RP.
