Much of my time was spent undecided. I wished to hunt, but somehow it did not feel right. I wandered the forests in contemplation, hoping for a sign that would guide me onto the right path.
It was a clear night that I finally sighted the beast. There was a strange beauty to the dew clinging to it's carapace, and I felt that I had been blessed at last with a worthy quarry. However, he soon eluded me and tracking him was no small task. As you well know, a spider leaves little that can be tracked in a damp woodland, and I had to rely on the trail of half-eaten corpses left in his wake.
I soon learned this beast was not like the others- he hunted even when sated, seemingly for no reason than to kill.
Our first encounter was brief, and left me with nothing to show for it but an envenomed wound. I am thankful that I have some skill with herbs, for I was able to halt the worst part of the poison's effects. However, I was slowed considerably as his venom ran through my veins.
The spider was a wily creature, and led me on a long chase through the woodland, past many obstacles. I often had the feeling that I too was being hunted.
We last met on the shores of the Fallen Sky lake, his venom sapped and my powers weakened. I felt the desperation behind his attack as I took the form of a bear; the battle was fierce, with many scars to remember him by. However, I was eventually triumphant, though the sting of his venom lingers even now.
