It was already deep in the night when Celegil sat down, leaning against an old tree that stood lonely along Darkshore's sandy coast. She felt quite tired but much calmer than the hours before. 'Bashing into the training target must have helped' she thought as she drank water from her leather canteen. As she drank the water, she closed her eyes and was enveloped in thoughts of the past night.
The Rite had made her aware of an underlying problem which made her angry but also shameful. She sighed deeply as she thought back how she addressed Elder Theronth. 'Wake up dammit! was a bad thing to say. Celegil sighed again, and mumbled: 'Damn it..I almost sounded as bad as Delenthia.'
Though she was deeply ashamed of herself of how she addressed Elder Theronth's, she couldn't help but also think of the problem. It was a culture clash, no doubt about it. She wanted to keep liabilities from increasing the chance that one of them would get killed. Aldrannath clearly had another idea. She sighed and thought how he could know that Theronth was ready for a battle. He doesn't even has any experience in leading an armed force!
Celegil thought about the Sentinel doctrine that she adopted more than two centuries ago. She nodded slightly to herself as she realized how much of a part it had became of her. 'You pay attention, or get beaten by your superiors. There can only be one leader and everyone will follow the leader's orders.'
Celegil looked up to watch the waves, thundering and pounding on the sandy beach. 'We are but a ripple in the sea...' Elder Aldrannath once said. She then realized that despite how hard she was going to try and keep everyone alive, one day someone would slip up and be devoured by the Balance.
She shook her head gently as she finished pondering. Regardless of how hard the Balance was going to try and kill one of them, she wasn't going to admit defeat. Smirking slightly she thought: 'We'll kick some butt before that day.'
