This is a roleplaying addon that came up in-game tonight. I would strongly recommend downloading it; the 'player' half of the addon is very easy to turn on and will let you take part in any cool stuff we'll be running with it in the future.
What is Verisimilar?
It's an add-on, and while the main feature is the ability to create quests, you can also use it to impersonate NPCs, change their gossip, and assign them as quest givers for your quests, create items that can be rewards or objectives to these quests, and assign them as loot from monsters in the world.
What might we use it for?
In the past, we've used verisimilar to voice npcs who need to deliver more than a few lines of text. Verisimilar gives the option of adding gossip to existing npcs, placing new npcs (they only appear on the minimap, they do not have a model) and voicing them in a more immersive way.
Verisimilar can also send /s and /e messages from players in a session to the GM, which helps them to run events where people are in different locations.
Where do I get it?
The current (alpha) version of Verisimilar is not on Curse. It is available at: github.com/Rexides/Verisimilar
A forum thread by the creator: eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2359136067
For new users: Unzip and copy the VerisimilarPlayer and Verisimilar GM folders to the Interface>Addons folder.
Debugging:
For people who have used the addon in the past:
Out of date verisimilar files can cause the addon not to function. Deleting the old verisimilar files from the SavedVariables folder (WTF>Accounts>) fixed this for me.
Parts of the addon tie in with the game UI and since they don't always work, can cause a stream of lua errors and/or break npc quest text. These parts can all be turned off by opening the options menu, the interface section and finding the verisimilar player addon. All four of the top checkboxes can be turned off.
