Kaleina rubbed the bridge of her nose in frustration, eyes closed as she tried to construct hundreds of years of study and service of Elune, of Knowlegde and understanding gained through experience, into an description of a priestesses path that would not take years to explain.
She was not desperate to take on a student at this point in her life, However the young priestesses "Shan'do" openly associated with filth and traitors, there-by demonstrating that she could not be trusted with the education of another.
Kaleina thought back to the look of fear in the young priestesses eyes when she had admitted she was a shadow wielder. So much prejudice, so much terror and misinformation had found the young woman trying to distort the gifts she had been granted into Light from Shadow.
Drawing fresh parchment from her Pack, as well as a selection of inks and pigments, Kaleina prepares to write, trying to form an explination of a subject that carried such complexity and controversy that many had simply decided to no longer teach the path.
Furrowing her brow she begins a letter.
"Young Priestess,
I know that many things I said may seem confusing, but I write to you now to offer you guidance, should you wish continue on your path.
Come the night, when Elune graces the sky, Leave the city walls and the bright lanterns and head out into the forests. At first you will seem blind, but the white lady shines down upon you, guiding your footsteps should you look long enough to see.
Now, look upon the boughs of the mighty anchient trees, Do not look with your thoughts, knowing what you will see, look with your eyes and your heart, seeing the truth of it.
Elune casts her light upon the tree, and casts the shadow that falls as well. In all things there is balance, Without the light of elune there could not be her shadow.
Do not mistake this for the darkness of corruption, the taint of an unworthy soul, of fel and demons called forth. This is the shadow of Elunes great cloak that she casts down so that we may be enveloped and protected by it.
In our time walking these lands we must strive for balance of all things. Elunes mercy may allow the light to heal the wounded, but if that creatures time has come, then do not upset the order of things by fighting against the flow, it is your duty as a priestess to aid their passing on.
Many whisper of the light being "Good" and the shadow "Evil", rarely in life are things so clearly defined. It is said that the shadow is destruction and corruption, that it only leads to madness.
The shadow is indeed a powerful tool, and if used by a corrupt heart for power and destruction, then corruption will be seen.
Know that in truth either light or shadow used for power and destruction it will corrupt and bring madness.
Stand beneath the boughs of the great tree, in shadow and darkness. Do not fear it, let it draw around you, cloaking your spirit, hiding you from harm. The shadow may be wielded for many purposes, be it to cast a veil around you to guard you from sight, to disperse attacks against you, and sometimes to heal or fortify those around you.
The church has taught you that the shadow is a weapon of distruction. In your mind look now upon humanity's church, with eyes opened in truth. Its Paladins and some of its priests wield the light as a weapon, calling down judgement or holy fire upon their enemies.
Humanity fears the darkness, Among your kind there is much corruption. Those who wielded to arcane and submitted to its temptations, turn to demonic nightmare -In their arrogance believing that they are the masters of such creatures, wielding shadows cast not by elunes grace, but by fires of fel.
You must understand, the source of corruption lies in the pursuit of power and the neglect of balance. Look to the Scarlets, once they were a great bastion of the light. Now there is little left but vengence and madness, so fanatical in their destruction of the scourge that their fear has driven them to seek to destroy any outside of their number.
Mother Moon does not advocate peace at any cost, When forces threaten to upset the balance and destroy life it is our duty of service to her that we defend her with all our tools.
Discipline your mind, strengthen your spirit. With consideration, care, regard for the balance of all things, and in service of Elune you can be taught to wield both.
